Thoughts about museum integration practice & Interview questions

1. Did you directly talk to some of the artists in these two exhibitions?

2. If so, what kind of conversation was it?

3. How long did it take to accumulate the work in the Off Kilter On Point Exhibition?

4. What kind of research did you have to do prior to the exhibitions?

5. How long did it take to organize each exhibition?

6. What conversations did you have with the photographer for the To Survive On This Shore Exhibition?

7. Are any of these exhibitions your area of expertise?

8. What was your personal research process for these exhibitions?

9. How long did this research take?

10. What was the hardest piece to find information about?

How I thought about these exhbitions?

I thought To Survive On This Shore was a very unique exhibition. The photographer of this show portrayed emotion through portrait photography. Another interesting aspect of this show, is that you don't have to know that these individuals are transgender to understand the concepts and emotions. It is hard to tell that these individuals are transgenders and you don't need to have any background knowledge to observe and interpret these portraits.

Personally, Off Kilter On Point is my favorite exhibition out of these two. I find abstract art very influential in many aspects. The way someone views this kind of work is interpretive and abstract. I love to push my brain in ways to to understand the abstract ideas while I'm observing this kind of art. The way this show is set up is aesthetically pleasing and very well crafted. I also love the little sitting area, which gives people a chance to either sit down and discuss the work, or think to themselves. Since this work is complex and difficult to interpret, it gives the chance for the viewers to take a moment.

What led me to these questions?

While thinking about all the preparation and research that was put into these two exhibitions, these questions bounced around in my head. I am very interested in knowing the time and effort that went into these exhibitions. I have a great appreciation for museum work and I do know how intense and tedious this work can be. I also really want to learn about what kind of research was used for these exhibitions.
